The Group Mind - Innovation, Leadership, Teambuilding Through Improv

We Believe

All problems are communication problems

“If we went out and contacted a hundred successful business executives in any community and asked them what is the number one problem in the business field today, I am confident that 90 percent would say that it is lack of communication--lack of communication on a horizontal basis between employer and employee--short circuits in communication on a vertical basis between employer and employee--breakdown in companies and the public, distorting the image they are trying to build.”
Cavett Robert

Successful businesses excel at all forms of communication. We've noticed that the common blind spot is internal communication. Four strategies for internal communication are:

· Know how to fight fair
· Build know, like, trust factor
· Listen closely and get to the point
· Create a culture where creativity and good communication are the norm

It doesn’t have to take years to improve communication. The key ingredients are learning new skills, inspiration, and courage. We can help.

Why Improv?

The Group Mind uses improvisational skills to help teams work better together. The advantages of an improv based workshop are:

1. Workshop retention: We remember 10% of what we hear and 100% of what we feel. Our workshops are experiential. Retention is higher than a pen and paper seminar.

2. Enhanced productivity: The concept of "Yes, And" changes culture. It exposes the talents of each member of the group, and reveals a whole greater than the sum of its parts.

3. Intrinsic motivation: Moves team members toward ownership of the team's goal. Closer connection among members increases buy in and success.

Improv is discovery, not comedy. The result is relationship.

“ Improvisation skills give people the basic fundamentals necessary to approach being a writer, actor, director, senator, optometrist, police sniper, etc. These are essential and age-old tools of agreement and navigation that allow a person to treat obstacles, mistakes, difficult personalities, and insecurities as gifts and truths rather than reasons to fall back into cliches or fail.”
